Permanent Dynamic Message Signs
Permanent Dynamic Message Signs are generally installed in high traffic areas and can be used to communicate various road or traffic information such as warning a motorist of an accident ahead and suggesting an alternate route.






 
 
Weigh-in-Motion Systems
Weigh-in-Motion Systems are capable of collecting time & date-stamped data. This data can then be remotely accessed via a modem, at a later date, for processing.


Generally, the installation of these systems involves placing sensors in the road
way surface.



 
            
 
Highway Advisory Radio Systems
Highway Advisory Radio Systems (HAR) are used to inform the motoring public of various road or weather conditions at a particular location along the highway. The HAR station transmits a signal which is discernable on vehicle radio frequencies.
 

Data Collection Sites
Data Collection Sites are stations where traffic data such as traffic counting, speed, and vehicle classification may be collected. Sensors that collect the data are temporarily or permanently installed in the highway. These sensors send the data to recording equipment, in a controller cabinet, generally located on the adjacent shoulder.

This data can then be relayed to a specific location for analysis.


 
 
 
These products are components of a complete system for remote monitoring of atmospheric and pavement weather conditions. SSI's Road / Runway Weather Information Systems (RWIS) collect atmospheric, pavement surface, sub-surface and video data to provide the most accurate pavement specific
weather information available.
