Durable and Reliable

SSI has over 6,000 surface sensors installed and operating throughout North America including many that have been on the job for over 15 years.

Passive Surface Sensor

The flush-mounted SSI FP 2000® has no moving parts, requires no maintenance, and is durable enough to withstand heavy traffic, tire-chains, snowplows and extreme temperatures for many years.

Measures Pavement Conditions

The FP2000 utilizes patented technology consisting of a combination of temperature, capacitance and two sets of four-point sensing nodes to measure pavement conditions.

Temperature Only Pavement Sensor

The Thermo SCAN is a highly accurate pavement sensor. It is easy to install and provides a low cost solution for gathering pavement data.

Active Pavement Sensor

The SSI Active Surface Sensor uses an active element to cool and warm any surface liquid or solution to accurately measure and report the freeze point temperature. The active sensor technology allows for accurate measurements that are independent of the chemical type, mixture and concentration being applied to the pavement.

Accurate Freeze Point Detection on Roadway

The SSI Active Surface Sensor is designed to collect multiple data points, providing more accurate freeze point information.

Less Chemical Usage

With the SSI Passive / Active Surface Sensor, chemicals will not be applied unnecessarily, thus reducing overall chemical usage and saving money and environmental effect.

QTT Introduces New thermo-Q Non-intrusive Pavement Temperature Sensor

Now available from QTT - the thermo-Q, a non-intrusive pavement temperature sensor! Designed for non-contact measurement, the thermo-Q sensor uses infrared technology to detect pavement temperature and provides remote readings during all-types of weather.

The thermo-Q is the first of a new line of non-intrusive sensors from QTT. The new "Q" line of sensors provides non-intrusive options for determining critical pavement information.

QTT's thermo-Q is an affordable alternative to in-pavement sensors, while still providing accurate readings. QTT also offers a cutting-edge design of the thermo-Q with adjustable features (pan and tilt) and the ability to measure multiple surface temperatures. This version is known as the thermo-Q 360.

The thermo-Q requires minimal maintenance, which results in lower maintenance costs, and it can be used with an existing Road / Runway Weather Information System (RWIS) network. The thermo-Q is highly beneficial to maintenance personnel because it has the ability to assist them during their decision-making process. With accurate pavement temperature readings, non-intrusive monitoring and an affordable price the thermo-Q is a smart solution for winter weather management.

Sub-Surface Temperature Probe

Typically measures temperature 17 inches below the roadway surface to determine frost-depth and is utilized in pavement forecasting.
